Center for Student Success & Access Services
The Center for Student Success & Access Services programs are designed with you in mind. Our free services include tutoring, workshops, academic coaching, review sessions, and targeted support and programming for student-athletes and first-generation college students to help you maximize your academic potential. Special assistance and services are provided for students with documented disabilities.
Center for Career & Professional Development
The Center for Career & Professional Development encourages you to begin your career/life planning process in your first year of college, continuing over the course of your academic career. However, you can rest assured that it is never too late to start!
Center for Community & Regional Development
The Center for Community & Regional Development (CCRD) collaborates with the Sherman/Denison community and the Texoma/North Texas region in a variety of programs and projects. Partnerships with business and industry, nonprofits, economic development, and municipalities benefit students and the region.
Center for Environmental Studies
The Center for Environmental Studies promotes multidisciplinary inquiry of environmental issues and problems through education, research, and outreach programs. These programs are designed to increase scientific knowledge, expand community awareness, and foster a greater appreciation for the interdependence of humans and other species.
Center for Southwest & Mexican Studies
The Center for Southwestern and Mexican Studies (CSMS) promotes collaborative learning between students of the college and faculty members, with special emphasis on the historical, cultural, social, economic, and political issues facing Texas and Mexico. The Center seeks to prepare its students, and the College community at large, to meet challenges and opportunities focusing on the relationship between Mexico and the southwestern United States.
The Center for Research, Experiential, Artistic & Transformative Education (CREATE) helps administer opportunities for Undergraduate Research (UR) for students. There are several different programs to get involved with research via the classroom or independently, and students can choose from group or individual research projects.
The Robert & Joyce Johnson Center for Faculty Development and Excellence in Teaching advances the mission of Austin College by encouraging the bold exploration of intellectual frontiers and by fostering lively intellectual dialogue within and across academic disciplines.
The First-Year Experience (FYE) is designed to connect our newest students to the mission of Austin College by creating shared experiences and shared expectations for your participation in the campus community. As new members of ’Roo Nation, the first-year experience is your opportunity to learn what that really means.
Office of International Programs
The Office of International Programs (OIP) serves as the central hub for students who want to participate in the global opportunities offered by Austin College. The OIP primarily facilitates study abroad programs and offers resources for incoming international students.
Posey Leadership Institute
The Posey Leadership Institute (PLI) develops the next generation of leaders, offering a minor to inspire and train future leaders as they study the art of communication. Leaders are encouraged to discover the influence they are capable of spreading through countless opportunities to learn through traditional lectures and unique exploratory hands-on projects.
The Lemuel Scarbrough Center for Writing supports a culture of writing at Austin College. Located in the Abell Library Center, the Scarbrough Center for Writing provides peer writing assistance, writing workshops and resources, and support for the teaching of writing across campus.
